This service is provided free of charge, confidential and offers impartial information and guidance on a range of diverse array of topics, which include:
- Benefit entitlement checks to help maximise income, from means tested and non-means tested benefits.
- Disability benefits including Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, and Carers Allowance.
- Welfare benefits for people of State Retirement age including Pension Credit, Council Tax Support and Housing Benefit.
- Help with the completion of Work Capability Forms (UC50)
- Blue Badge online applications
- We are unable to advise on working age income benefits including Universal Credit or Employment and Support Allowance.
- Age UK has a wide range of information guides on different issue affecting older people including: Money and legal matters, Health and wellbeing, Care and support, Travel and activities.

Age UK Wigan Borough provides information and advice on a range of issues relating to people aged 50 and over and those who care and support them, who live in the Wigan Borough. We provide welfare benefits advice and provide practical assistance with completing benefit application claims. The service is able to offer information and advice by telephone, email/letter, and provides a limited number of face-to-face appointments. All inquiries are treated confidentially and objectively; individual details will not be shared with third parties unless authorised beforehand.
