Additional Information
The Watersure scheme is aimed at customers with a water meter who may be struggling to pay their water bills as they are using a lot of water due to illness or having a large family. It caps the customer’s annual bill at a set amount, for 2023/2024 this would be £443.40 per year, regardless of how much water the customer needs to use.
To be eligible, the customer or someone in their household, must be receiving at least one of the following benefits or tax credits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit (not just the family part)
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Credit
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit
The customer must be using a lot of water due to one of the following reasons:
They have three or more children under 19 (living at the same address and either preschool age or in full time education), for whom Child Benefit is claimed
OR
The customer, or someone living with the customer, has a medical condition which requires the use of lots of water. The medical conditions are:
- Desquamation (flaky skin disease)
- Weeping skin disease (eczema, psoriasis, varicose ulceration)
- Incontinence
- Abdominal stoma
- Renal failure where they need home dialysis
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Another condition which means the customer needs to use a lot of extra water
