Customers applying for Universal Credit can apply to have their water bill payments delayed for up to eight weeks while they wait for their first Universal Credit payment to arrive. We have introduced this scheme to make sure customers don’t feel under pressure to pay their water bill if their first Universal Credit payment is delayed causing financial pressures.
To apply, the customer must call our affordability team on 0800 072 6765, we can normally agree the application there and then over the telephone.
