The council will assess your financial situation by considering your and your partner's income, as well as any savings you may have. They will also take into account other factors like your age and household composition. Using this information, the council will determine if you qualify for Council Tax Support. It's important to note that receiving Council Tax Support will not impact the amount of other benefits you receive.
Individuals who have reached state pensionable age will receive support based on the Council Tax Reduction Scheme (Prescribed Requirements) (England) Regulations 2012.
For those of working age, the assessment process differs.
Support is capped at a maximum reduction of 75% for all working age individuals.
Working age claimants residing in a property categorized as band B or higher can only claim up to 75% of the band A liability, with the remaining amount payable in full.
