Eligibility Criteria
The person you provide care for must already be receiving one of the following benefits:
• Personal Independence Payment - daily living component
• Disability Living Allowance - at the middle or highest care rate
• Attendance Allowance
• Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
• Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension
• Armed Forces Independence Payment
You must have a low income and:
• Be 16 years of age or older
• Dedicate a minimum of 35 hours per week to caring for someone
• Live in England, Scotland, or Wales for at least two of the past three years (unless you are a refugee or have humanitarian protection status)
• Live in England, Scotland, or Wales, unless you are a member of the armed forces
• Not be engaged in full-time education
• Not be studying for 21 hours a week or more
• Not be subject to immigration control
