For customers in severe financial hardship, the United Utilities Trust Fund may be able to help with a grant to help reduce or clear water debt. Customers applying for a grant for their water arrears can also apply for a white goods appliance or a bed.

- If the customer has significant arrears as a result of a life event then they may qualify for a grant
- Customers in extreme multi debt situations may not quality for a grant
- Customers should not have received a grant in the past two years
